Cortez "Mules"

This pair features a meticulous, concept-driven transformation of the Nike Cortez silhouette, beginning with an all-black suede base from Nike By You. The original outsole was replaced with a rugged Vibram unit, injecting the timeless profile with utility-forward functionality and a bold, grounded stance.

Hand-stitched chainstitch Swooshes subtly disrupt the uniform palette, introducing artisanal craftsmanship and one-of-one character. The heel section was carefully deconstructed and reimagined using premium Italian nubuck in deep black, shaping a sleeker mule-inspired silhouette with elevated finish.

To complement the refined lines, the tongue was thoughtfully shortened, aligning the proportions for a cleaner visual flow. Completing the project are custom laces from @allabove.store—tying the entire rework together with understated precision and final detail.
