Description
This pair features a revisited ASICS GEL-Kayano 14, blending heritage textiles with contemporary design. The entire suede upper has been meticulously dyed in a moody purple/gray tone, creating a rich and nuanced base. The original mesh panels were replaced with 60-year-old antique Kantha fabric, hand-dyed and showcasing a deep green and purple floral print.
Kantha, a historic textile tradition similar to Japanese sashiko, is crafted by women across generations using repurposed garments, saris, and fabric scraps to create intricate quilts. This one-of-a-kind material was seamlessly integrated into the side panels and tongue, adding texture and a narrative of cultural continuity.
The design is completed with custom cord laces from @allabove.store, uniting craftsmanship, heritage, and modern reinterpretation in one cohesive silhouette.
